Women's Soccer Defeats Michigan State in OT, 1-0

EVANSTON, Ill. - Senior Christie Molitor left a lasting impression in her final game on Lakeside Field, scoring 8:45 into overtime to give the Northwestern women's soccer team a 1-0 decision over Michigan State Friday afternoon.
Molitor capped off a big day for the seniors, collecting an errant clearance from a Spartan defender and firing a shot into the goal to raise NU's record to 3-12-1 (1-8-1 Big Ten). Michigan State fell to 5-9-3 (3-6-1 Big Ten).
Northwestern has been snakebit much of this fall, but the ball bounced the Wildcats' way on Friday. Overall, the 'Cats outshot MSU, 14-6, dominating much of the contest and getting the result. In regulation, NU had the better chances, the best coming in the 84th minute when Katie Hertz headed a ball off the crossbar.
Erin Ekeberg collected her second shutout of the season, making three saves, while Sara Kloosterman had four stops for Michigan State.
The Wildcat women are off until Friday, Oct. 31, when they play at Butler.
