EVANSTON, Ill. - In a season that saw far too many bounces go against the highly-touted Northwestern women's soccer team, it seemed only fitting that in the final match of the season the bounces would go for them.
In a game dominated by the Wildcats from start to finish, junior Brooke Bell (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton-Warrenville South) poked a left-footed shot past the Butler keeper with 10 mintes left to give the Wildcats a 2-1 win. It was NU's first road victory this season and put the 'Cats record at 4-12-1.
The Wildcats dominated Butler on the stat sheet, outshooting the Bulldogs 26-6 (a season high for NU).
Kase McCoy (Medina, Ohio/Medina) put NU on the board first, blasting a shot home from 25 yards out. Butler tied the match early in the second half and it remained deadlocked until Bell's heroics.
Senior Kristen Palmer (Huntington Beach, Calif./Marina) assisted on Bell's gamewinner, and finished her career as the school's all-time leader in that category.
