Northwestern Alum, Chris Beacom, joined the baseball staff ahead of the 2020 season as the director of baseball operations.Â
In 2005, Beacom founded the Illinois Baseball Academy, a business dedicated to the holistic development of players and coaches from community programs across Chicagoland. Illinois Baseball Academy also partners with the Chicago Cubs to deliver co-branded baseball programs throughout the year. Â
Prior to establishing IBA, Beacom was a high-school English teacher and varsity baseball coach.
Beacom was a four-year starter and captained the Cats in 1989. After graduating with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Communication Studies, he was drafted and played two years of minor league baseball for the Toronto Blue Jays.

He also holds an M. Ed. in Secondary Education from DePaul University.
