Ryan O’Donnell joined Northwestern Athletics in September 2019 as volunteer coach and was elevated to graduate assistant in August 2020 with the Wildcats swimming and diving program.

In only three seasons at Northwestern, O’Donnell has coached one Big Ten Champion, four Big Ten finalists, two NCAA Championships qualifiers, and seven NCAA Zone qualifiers. As NU student, O'Donnell is earning a Master’s in Public Policy & Administration and is active in many leadership roles on campus. He presently serves as Vice President of the Student Leadership Council and was named editor-in-chief of The NU Public, Northwestern's public policy student newsletter.

O’Donnell received a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Michigan where he also was a student-athlete and competed as a diver. At Michigan, he was a U-M Academic Achievement Award winner and Academic All-Big Ten Scholar honoree.
