Troy Sutton joined Northwestern University Athletics in April 2024 as Assistant Director of Football Performance.Â

Most recently, Sutton spent four years in North Carolina working with Marine Special Operations as a strength and conditioning specialist. While in NC, he also worked as a sports massage therapist and corrective exercise specialist.

From September 2016 to June 2019, Sutton worked with the Minnesota Timberwolves as the Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach before being promoted to the position of Director of Strength & Conditioning.

From 2012 to 2016, Sutton served as the Assistant Director of Strength & Conditioning for Football at Northwestern University.

Prior to his first stint at Northwestern, Sutton worked with the Ohio State Football program as a Strength and Conditioning Coordinator from 2008 to 2012. Before his time with OSU Football, he began his career as an Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach working with OSU Olympic Sports teams from 2005 to 2008.

Sutton completed his bachelor’s degree at The Ohio State University and his master’s degree from Ohio University. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the NSCA, Licensed Massage Therapist in North Carolina and Illinois, and Certified Corrective Exercise Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Â

A native of Columbus, Ohio, Sutton’s hobbies include playing with his bulldog, Barry, and spending time with family. Â
