Jen Schumacher joined Northwestern Athletics in June 2022 as Mental Performance Consultant for the football team, providing integrated mental performance services throughout the organization.

Prior to joining the Wildcats, Schumacher served as an Assistant Director of the Performance Psychology Program at the United States Military Academy at West Point. She joins Northwestern after over a decade of coaching elite and professional athletes, military cadets, special forces officers, marathon swimmers, and Fortune 100 executives on the mental game.

Schumacher earned her Ph.D. in Health and Human Performance at Concordia University of Chicago. She studied mental performance under Dr. Ken Ravizza while pursuing a master’s degree in Sport Psychology at California State University, Fullerton, where she also earned a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. She is a Certified Mental Performance Consultant through the Association of Applied Sport Psychology. An elite athlete herself, she has completed the triple crown of marathon swimming, most recently completing the English Channel in 2021, and currently competes in CrossFit.
 
A native of Irvine, Calif., Schumacher currently resides in Evanston with her husband Scott.
