Tom Myers (Football, 1962-64)
When Myers finished his career in 1964, he held 13 school passing records and shared two others. At the time of induction he held the top single-season passing efficiency mark of 133.3, set in 1962.
Myers' career got off to a blazing start when he completed a then-NCAA record 15 consecutive passes against South Carolina in his first game as a Wildcat in 1962. He led the Wildcats to a 7-2 record that season which included a 6-0 start and the nation's mid-season No. 1-ranking.
Myers was named All-America following the 1962 season by the Football Writers of America and was recognized the following preseason as an All-America quarterback by Playboy.
Although the Wildcats' records dropped to 5-4 and 6-3 in his final two season, Myers still excelled. He led the team in both passing and total offense each season and played in both the 1964 Blue-Gray Classic and the 1965 Senior Bowl. He also was named Northwestern's 1965 Big Ten Medal of Honor recipient for excellence in athletics and scholarship.
Myers enjoyed football successes both before and after his years at Northwestern. He established a then-Ohio record with 73 career touchdown passes at Troy High School. He continued his football career as a professional, spending the 1965 and '66 seasons with the Detroit Lions of the National Football League.
