GET TO KNOW DIPRIMA

Q. Describe briefly your recruiting process/how you ended playing here at Northwestern: I attended my first Northwestern softball camp at 9 years old. After watching the team compete in the college world series, I knew Northwestern was my dream school. I continued to attend their softball camps and eventually things just fell into place.

Q: What advice will you give to kids wanting to play your sport in college? Learn as many positions as you possibly can. If you are a versatile player, then you will have more opportunities to contribute to your team!

Q: What is the greatest lesson in life that you have learned so far? If you have a dream, work hard and go after it. Don't let anyone tell you can't do something.

Q: What do you consider to be your greatest achievement so far? My greatest achievement so far is attending my dream school and playing the sport I love. Being a student-athlete at Northwestern University is an absolute privilege.

Q: Favorite class at Northwestern and why: Developmental Psychopathology. It is my favorite class at Northwestern because our professor would give us real case studies and we had to decide how we would treat each client based on the given information. This class improved my ability to choose appropriate treatment plans for children and adolescents, which is the population I hope to work with after graduation.

Q: What's your dream job? A high school social worker. It would be a dream come true to advocate for underrepresented and vulnerable populations in a school setting. I would love to provide resources and guidance that would improve their academic performance and quality of life.

Q: The person/s that inspire/s you the most: My mom is my inspiration. She is the strongest person I know.

Q: If you were given a chance to dine with anyone from any period in history, who will you choose and why? The grandfather I never met. He passed away before I was born, but my Dad has told me stories about him. I know we would have a lot to talk about because we share a passion for sports and music.

Q: Who/what did you pretend to be when playing as a kid/growing up? A music star. I used to practice a bunch of songs in my room and then ask my parents to sit next to our piano as I put on a "concert".

Q: What is/are your favorite song/s or best concert ever attended? The best concert I ever attended was Zac Brown Band at Wrigley Field. They sounded just as good live as they do on their recorded albums.

Q: Best book you have ever read? Chicken Soup for the Soul. The stories are so inspiring.

Q: What is/are your favorite place/s to visit? Anywhere with sunshine!

Q: What is/are your favorite food? A Chipotle burrito bowl.

Q: Hobbies or favorite activities during your spare time: In my spare time, I love to hang out with my family and friends. I also love to run long distance to clear my head and relieve stress.

Q: Describe your pregame ritual: I don't have a pregame ritual but I do have a routine before each pitch. I step out of the box, adjust my elbow guard and then brush the dirt in the box with my back foot.

Q: What talent/s do you have that you would like to showcase in a talent show? I love to sing and play the piano.

Q: How do you want people to remember you as a person? Kind and selfless.

Q: What is/are your favorite sports team/s growing up? My favorite sports teams growing up were the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bulls and Chicago Bears.

Q: Who is/are your favorite athlete/s growing up? Jessica Mendoza. As a little kid, she immediately caught my attention because we are both lefty hitters and right-handed outfielders. I also looked up to her because she attended a prestigious academic institution (Stanford). Today, she finds time to run softball camps/clinics and be an ESPN broadcaster, all while raising a family-pretty impressive!
