Wildcats Set for 2026 Big Ten Women's Swimming and Diving Championships

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern women's swimming and diving will travel to the University of Minnesota for the 2026 Big Ten Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at the Jane K. Freeman Aquatic Center from Feb. 18-21. The competition will begin on Wednesday at 4 p.m. CT with two relays and a team diving exhibition, followed by three days of preliminary events at 10 a.m. CT and finals at 5 p.m. CT. All of the action will be streamed on B1G+.
At the 2025 Big Ten Championships in Columbus, Ohio, the 'Cats took ninth place with a total of 409 points and secured four top-eight finishes, with Grey Davis and Zoe Nordmann both earning All-Freshman Team honors at the meet.
Returning swimmers Davis, Lindsay Ervin, Maggie Papanicholas and Wildcat alum Justine Murdock took eighth place in the 200 Medley Relay (1:37.51). The 800 Free Relay, including Nordmann, Hana Shimizu-Bowers, Sydney Smith and former Wildcat Nikki Venema, finished sixth and set a school record (7:03.96). Venema also led the 400 Free Relay team with Ervin, Smith and Audrey Yu to a seventh-place finish (3:14.95) and secured a seventh-place finish in the 100 free (47.97).
Wildcats to watch this week include Zoe Nordmann in the 1650 free and NU's 200 free relay team. Nordmann's season-best time of 16:04.59 at the Texas Hall of Fame Invitational ranks third in the conference. In the 200 free relay, NU's 1:28.06, recorded against Wisconsin on Jan. 17, ranks third in the Big Ten.
Most recently, NU women's swimming and diving picked up a 212-140 win over Purdue and narrowly fell 186-166 in a tri-dual meet to close out its regular season competition. The Wildcats showcased their depth, picking up wins in three of the four contested relays and five different individual event wins from five different swimmers.
The 'Cats will compete against seven ranked opponents this week, including No. 4 Michigan, No. 6 Indiana, No. 11 Ohio State, No. 12 USC, No. 15 Wisconsin, No. 22 UCLA and No. 25 Minnesota.
Up next, NCAA Diving Zones are scheduled for March 9-11 in Ypsilanti, Mich., with NCAA Championships slated for March 18-21 in Atlanta, Ga.
