Six Wildcats Pick Up Victories, ‘Cats Drop Weekend Duals in Michigan

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Northwestern wrestling saw six Wildcats earn victories throughout two duals this weekend, however the Wildcats dropped a 38-4 decision at No. 10 Michigan on Friday and a 22-20 dual at Michigan State on Sunday.
At 133 lbs, Sean Spidle opened Friday's action against the Wolverines with an 8-0 major decision over Gauge Botero. It marked Spidle's second time this season earning bonus points, as well as his second Big Ten dual victory of the season. The graduate student from Lapeer, Mich. did not wrestle in Sunday's dual against Michigan State.
On Sunday, No. 23 Dedrick Navarro continued his impressive sophomore campaign at 125 lbs with a 2-1 decision over Nick Corday. Navarro took control of the bout with key reversal at the closing seconds of the second period, and then proceeded to fend off Corday in the final period to improve to 4-2 in Big Ten dual action this season.
At 141 lbs, No. 31 Billy Dekraker secured bonus points as he pinned Jace Morgan. Dekraker built up a 12-1 lead midway through the third period before putting Morgan on his back and locking up his first fall of the season. The rookie Dekraker improves to 4-2 in Big Ten dual action this year.
The 'Cats closed the dual against the Spartans with three consecutive bout victories, including back-to-back major decisions from No. 30 Eddie Enright and J.D. Perez.
At 165 lbs, Jacob Bostelman locked up his first-career Big Ten dual victory in thrilling fashion. Trailing 1-0 in the closing seconds of the bout, Bostelman took down Jack Conley to secure a 3-1 decision.
The No. 30 ranked Enright cruised to a 19-6 major decision over Owen Segorski at 174 lbs, improving to 4-2 in Big Ten dual action on the year with three of his four victories coming with bonus points.
Perez closed the match with an 8-0 major decision over Ryan Boucher, his third Big Ten dual victory on the year. Five of Perez's six victories on the year have come with bonus points.
Northwestern will continue its Big Ten action on the road next weekend as the Wildcats travel to Lincoln to face off against No. 6 Nebraska. Action starts at 1 pm CT on B1G+.
