Postgame Notes

EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern concluded its 2026-27 exhibition slate by falling to No. 18 Iowa State, 94-59, on Sunday afternoon inside Welsh-Ryan Arena.

“A lot of guys are in a new setting, at a new level, and they’re seeing the speed of the game — and the physicality, it rises,” Sullivan-Ubben Head Men’s Basketball Coach Chris Collins said. “I’m confident in my guys. I told them I’m with them. We win and we lose together.”

Sophomore guard Jake West led the way for Northwestern with a team-high 21 points and four assists while shooting 7-of-16 from the floor and 4-of-9 from three-point range. In the second half, West scored 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting.

Fellow returner junior guard Angelo Ciaravino tallied 13 points on 6-of-11 shooting, four rebounds and a game-high four steals. Graduate student forward Jack Karasinski scored 11 points.

“At the end of the day, I told our guys, ‘Listen, guys, we’re 0-0.’ As tough as today was and disappointing, at the end of the day, we all go into next Monday and everybody has the same record.”

Northwestern opens the regular season against Binghamton on Monday, Nov. 2. Tipoff from Welsh-Ryan Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT on B1G+.
