Pfrommer Named Big Ten Freshman of the Week

Big Ten Release Opens in a new window

EVANSTON, Ill. (October 20, 2026) – After putting in back-to-back 90-minute shifts, Northwestern University first-year Josue Pfrommer (Joliet, Ill./EdOptions Online Academy) has been selected as the Big Ten Conference’s Freshman of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.  This marks the first weekly league honor of Pfrommer’s career.

After helping Northwestern grind out a 1-1 draw with Penn State last Friday, a game in which the Wildcats played a man down for nearly 80 minutes, Pfrommer was part of a stout defensive showing in Monday evening’s 0-0 stalemate with No. 10 UCLA.  The Joliet, Ill. native featured for a Wildcat defensive unit that limited the Bruins’ high-powered attack to only one shot on target as Northwestern became the first team to shut out UCLA in 2026.

A 6-foot-3 defender, Pfrommer has developed into a fixture along the Wildcat backline as the regular season enters its homestretch.  He has started in six of Northwestern’s last seven games, contributing to a pair of clean sheets.
