Tromp Tabbed Big Ten Co-Defensive Player of the Week

ROSEMONT, Ill. - After notching two goals and anchoring NU's defense, Northwestern field hockey's Ilse Tromp was named Big Ten Co-Defensive Player of the Week. The senior back/midfielder is Northwestern’s fifth appearance this season in weekly conference awards, as the No. 2 Wildcats (14-1, 5-0 Big Ten) remain undefeated in Big Ten play.

Collecting her second weekly accolade of the season, and fourth of her career, Tromp earns the honor after notching four points in a dominant conference road win. The senior posted two goals in NU’s 4-1 victory at No. 11 Indiana and has the second-most goals and points for the Wildcats this season.

Her four-point performance increases her ‘Cats’ career scoring tally to 112 points, moving into 10th place on Northwestern’s career scoring leaderboard. She recorded her third multi-goal game of this year, and the 10th of her Northwestern career.

The reigning Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year also collected First Team All-Conference and NFHCA All-American honors in 2025. Last season, Tromp was named both Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week (Sept. 22, 2025) and Defensive Player of the Week (Oct. 6, 2025), as well as NFHCA National Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 8. Earlier this season, Tromp was tabbed Big Ten Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 28.

Two other ‘Cats have been selected for weekly conference honors this season: junior goalkeeper Juliana Boon (Defensive, Sept. 14) and senior forward Ashley Sessa (Offensive, Sept. 21 and Oct. 5).
