Northwestern To Celebrate National Girls & Women In Sports Day On February 5

Pre-game panel to precede Wildcats' matchup with USC
EVANSTON, Ill. (January 23, 2026) - Join Northwestern Athletics and the Northwestern University Women's Center in celebration of National Girls & Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) on Thursday, February 5! This year's event, Stronger Together: Celebrating Our Women's Sports: Elevate, Inspire, Celebrate, features additional programming and opportunities for fans throughout game day.
All ticket holders for the Wildcats' women's basketball team's 8 p.m. CT matchup with USC are invited to attend a pre-game panel in the Wilson Club, located inside Welsh-Ryan Arena. The event will begin at 7 p.m. CT and doors will open at 6:45 p.m. CT to accommodate guests attending this event. Guests will have the opportunity for networking, and to hear from Sarah Brown, Director of the Women's Center at Northwestern University and Savanna Wood, Northwestern Athletics Chief Communications and Branding Officer. There will be a panel featuring Jill Miller, Northwestern Women's Cross Country & Track Head Coach, Tracey Fuchs, Northwestern Women's Field Hockey Head Coach, and moderator Michello Manno, Associate Provost of Community Enrichment. Student-athletes from various Northwestern women's programs will also be in attendance.

Guests attending with children 8th grade and under can sign-up to participate in the Junior Roles program, where participants will be paired with various Northwestern University staff members during the game to shadow their work. These roles include, but are not limited to, photographers, broadcast professionals, cheerleaders, and more. All participants must have a ticket to the game to participate. A National Girls & Women in Sports Day giveaway will be available to early arriving fans, while supplies last.
