No. 6 Northwestern Resumes Dual Slate Sunday At Tufts Invitational

‘Cats won team title at meet last season
EVANSTON, Ill. (January 17, 2026) – No. 6 Northwestern fencing returns to dual competition on Sunday when it competes at the Tufts Invitational in Medford, Mass.
The 'Cats are set to fence four opponents inside the Gantcher Family Sports and Convocation Center, with a ranked showdown against No. 12 Cornell scheduled to wrap up the meet. A full meet schedule can be found below, with links to watch and follow live results available above.
Northwestern will look to replicate its showing from last season's edition of the Tufts Invitational, where it cruised to victories over Brown, Wellesley, and Tufts en route to claiming the team title as it finished a combined 8-1 across all three weapons.

Northwestern kicked off the new calendar year by sending a contingent of student-athletes to USA Fencing's Junior Olympics in Kansas City, Mo. this past weekend. The Wildcats' three-day stay in the Show-Me State was highlighted by a podium finish in the Junior Team Women's Sabre, as Nisha Hild, Elaine Lu, and Sophia Schiminovich claimed bronze in the event.

Northwestern checked in at No. 6 in the recently released United States Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA) Midseason Coaches' Poll. The 'Cats are one of three teams out of the Midwest Region to appear in inside the top 10, joining No. 2 Notre Dame and Central Collegiate Fencing Conference (CCFC) rival No. 7 Ohio State.
