EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern wrestling unveiled its full 2026-27 schedule on Tuesday, featuring five home dual dates in addition to the 62nd Annual Midlands Championships. Along with an eight-match Big Ten slate, the ‘Cats will face six non-conference opponents and wrestle four tournaments ahead of the postseason.
Matt Storniolo’s squad will open its season on November 7, when the Wildcats will wrestle the Michigan State Open in East Lansing. Following that, they will raise the curtain on their home schedule on November 22, when Northwestern hosts Davidson, Princeton and SIUE for a trio of duals at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
December begins with the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational, held December 4 and 5 in Las Vegas, Nev. Following the tournament, the ‘Cats will head east for a pair of duals in Clarion, Pa., against Clarion and Mercyhurst on December 20. The month concludes with the 62nd Annual Midlands Championships, hosted at Ryan Fieldhouse on December 29 and 30.
The conference gauntlet begins on January 8, when Northwestern is scheduled to visit the rival Illini in Champaign. The following week, the ‘Cats will host Ohio State (Jan. 15) in the 2027 conference home opener. Following a visit to the Iowa Hawkeyes in Iowa City (Jan. 22), Northwestern will welcome Purdue to Welsh-Ryan on January 24.
After a quick trip to DeKalb to face off with NIU (Jan. 28), conference action will resume on January 31 at home against Michigan State. A road swing at Rutgers (Feb. 5) and Maryland (Feb. 7) will precede the Big Ten finale at home against Indiana (Feb. 12). Before taking on the postseason, Northwestern will get final bouts in at the Patriot Last Chance Open (Feb. 21), hosted by George Mason.
The 2027 postseason begins at the Big Ten Championships, which will be hosted at a neutral site for the first time. The ‘Cats will head to Columbus, Ohio, where they will meet the rest of the conference at Nationwide Arena on March 6-7. The NCAA Championships will follow on March 18-20 at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Mo.
