ROSEMONT, Ill. - After notching two goals and anchoring a dominant defensive showing, Northwestern field hockey's Ilse Tromp was named Big Ten Co-Defensive Player of the Week. The senior back/midfielder is the third Wildcat to earn a weekly conference award this season, a key to NU’s 10-0 start.
Collecting her first weekly accolade of the season, and third of her career, Tromp earns the honor after notching four points in a dominant conference-opening win. The senior posted two goals in the 6-0 shutout and leads all ‘Cats with eight goals on the season. Tromp matched her career-high shots (eight) while also anchoring the NU defense to its seventh clean sheet of the year and limiting the Spartans to six total shots.
Her four-point performance increases her ‘Cats’ career scoring tally to 105 points, moving into T-11th place on Northwestern’s career scoring leaderboard. She recorded her second multi-goal game of this year, and the ninth of her Northwestern career.
