Freeman's Breakout Propels 'Cats to 2-0 Victory over Hoosiers

EVANSTON, Ill. – First-year midfielder Camryn Freeman scored her first two career goals to bag a brace and lead Northwestern to a 2-0 win over Indiana on Sunday afternoon at Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium. 

The win extended Northwestern’s (5-4-3, 3-1-1 Big Ten) unbeaten stretch in Big Ten home games to seven, dating back to Oct. 5, 2025. The Wildcats are 6-0-1 over that span.

Sophomore goalkeeper Nyamma Nelson matched her season high with six saves en route to her fifth shutout of the season and the 15th of her career. The clean sheet is NU’s sixth this season. All five Wildcat victories this season have come in shutouts. 

In the first half, the Hoosiers (4-6-1, 1-4-0 Big Ten) outshot the ‘Cats 7-3 and forced Nelson into four saves, but both sides went into the intermission still looking for the breakthrough.

NU found the opener in the 62nd minute, when senior forward Keira Wagner’s shot attempt deflected to Freeman. The first-year stepped to the ball and blasted it into the net over the Hoosier goalkeeper.

The ‘Cats added on in the 77th minute when junior forward Alex Fallon knifed through the Hoosier backline, drawing defenders. Fallon coolly played off to Freeman, who slotted the ball home for her second of the day.
