EVANSTON, Ill. (September 24, 2026) – No. 12 Northwestern cross country will be in action close to home on Friday morning, as it makes the trip south down DuSable Lake Shore Drive for the Loyola Lakefront Invitational in Chicago, Ill.
The Wildcats will kick off the day’s action at 9 a.m. CT on the Sydney R. Marovitz Golf Course in the women’s 6k championship race ahead of also being represented in the 6k open race at 10:20 a.m. CT. Head coach Jill Miller’s team will feature in a field that includes fellow ranked foes No. 20 Virginia and No. 24 Minnesota, along with Big Ten Conference rivals Michigan and Wisconsin. Competing at last Saturday’s John McNichols Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind., Northwestern was led by a quintet of first-years in the meet’s 6k open race. Ella Goodsell led the way for the ‘Cats, placing 17th overall with a time of 22:19.0.
Northwestern is no stranger to the Loyola Lakefront Invitational. At last season’s edition of the event, the ‘Cats enjoyed a breakout showing, placing second overall and finishing in front of six ranked foes. Ava Criniti earned an impressive top-10 finish, placing eighth overall with a then-6k personal-best 19:58.6. Jackie Holman (20:12.8) and Skye Ellis (20:19.1) also put points on the board, coming through 19th and 25th, respectively.
