MADISON, Wis. – No. 14 Wisconsin used a pair of set-piece goals to upend Northwestern in a 2-0 setback on Sunday afternoon. The loss snaps NU’s five-game unbeaten run in Big Ten play, dating back to Oct. 12, 2025.
The Badgers (5-1-2, 1-0-1 Big Ten) grabbed an early lead in the 13th minute, when junior midfielder Anya Gulbrandsen redirected a free kick from freshman midfielder Izy Traub into the back of the net for the opening goal.Â
UW added a second goal on a 68th-minute corner kick. Traub notched her second assist of the day, finding senior midfielder Erin Connolly who headed home the second goal of the day for Wisconsin.
First-year midfielder Camryn Freeman made her debut for the Wildcats (3-4-2, 1-1-0 Big Ten), logging 31 minutes as a substitute.
The Badgers outshot the ‘Cats 10-6, including a 4-1 edge in shots on goal. NU earned six corners, compared to five for UW.
The Wildcats continue conference play at Minnesota on Sunday, Sep. 20. Kickoff from Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT on B1G+.
