Northwestern Heads North for Sunday Matchup at No. 14 Wisconsin

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern makes its first road trip of Big Ten play when it travels to Madison for a Sunday afternoon matchup at No. 14 Wisconsin. Kickoff from McClimon Soccer Complex is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT on B1G+.

Last time out, Northwestern (3-3-2, 1-0-0 Big Ten) picked up a 1-0 victory over Michigan behind junior forward Alex Fallon’s 85th-minute goal, assisted by first-year midfielder Elle Phillips. Fallon’s tally marks her second of the season and her second game-winner, after she also scored the lone goal in a 1-0 victory over Denver on Aug. 23, which Phillips also assisted on.

Nyamma Nelson

Sophomore goalkeeper Nyamma Nelson collected a season-high five saves against Michigan, recording her third shutout of the season, NU’s fourth. With the shutout, Nelson moves into sole possession of fourth place in school history with 13 clean sheets in her young career. The sophomore ranks fourth in the Big Ten in goals against average (0.38) and save percentage (.857).

Dating back to last season, the Wildcats are unbeaten in their last five Big Ten games (4-0-1), including a 1-1 draw against No. 20 Wisconsin to close out the 2025 regular season. The 'Cats posted a 4-2-5 record in Big Ten play in 2025, their best record in Big Ten play since 2022 (7-2-1).

Northwestern is 9-21-4 all-time against Wisconsin, including a 3-12-2 mark in Madison. NU is seeking its first road win over the Badgers since Oct. 28, 2015, when it knocked off UW 2-1 in 2OT. 

Wisconsin (4-1-2, 0-0-1 Big Ten) enters Sunday’s matchup off a scoreless draw at Illinois. Freshman midfielder/forward Margaret Sisk leads the Badgers with three goals on the season, while freshman midfielder Izy Traub has already tallied five assists in 2026. Fifth-year goalkeeper Drew Stover has posted a 0.73 goals against average to go with a .706 save percentage.

The Wildcats continue conference play at Minnesota on Sunday, Sep. 20. Kickoff from Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT on B1G+.
