Wildcats Conclude Season Opener in Ninth at Folds of Honor Collegiate

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. – First-year Kuan Zhou paced the Wildcats with a T-14 finish in his collegiate debut, as the Northwestern men’s golf team opened its season in ninth place at the Folds of Honor Collegiate.

Competing at American Dunes Golf Club in Grand Haven, Michigan, the Wildcats posted three straight 1-over rounds of 285, finishing with a 54-hole total of 855 strokes. Georgia Tech collected both trophies at the conclusion of the event, winning the team title with a score of 834 (272-284-278), while first-year Max Emberson claimed medalist honors at 11-under.

Competing in his first collegiate event, Zhou fired a 2-over 72 in his debut round Monday. The first-year responded with a 4-under 67 in his second round, carding the second-lowest individual round of the day, before firing an even-par 71 in his final round to place in a share of 14th at 2-under.

Trailing Zhou on the leaderboard was the duo of Monty Holcombe and Jeremy Chen, who each finished in a share of 25th. Holcombe’s low round came Tuesday with a 2-under 69, while Chen began the event with a 1-under 70 in his opening round.

Carter Gaede placed in a share of 31st, concluding his collegiate debut with a 1-under 70 in his final round, while Rowan Sullivan rounded out the leaderboard in 70th.
