WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W. Va. (July 23, 2026) – Northwestern women’s basketball will take part in the 2026 Greenbrier Tip-Off, it was announced on Thursday.  The two-day event is set for November 13-14 inside Colonial Hall at the historic Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, W. Va.
Piloted by first-year head coach Carla Berube, the Wildcats will open play in the Mountain State against reigning Big 12 Tournament Champion West Virginia (Nov. 13). Berube’s team will be back on the hardwood 24 hours later for a clash with Appalachian State (Nov. 14).
Northwestern and West Virginia are set to meet for the fifth time, a series which the ‘Cats lead by a 3-1 margin.  The two programs last met during the quarterfinals of the 2019 Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) when, behind a game-high 17 points from Veronica Burton, Northwestern roared back from an 18-point deficit to stun the host Mountaineers, 56-54.
The event finale will mark the first matchup between the Wildcats and Appalachian State. Northwestern last battled a current Sun Belt Conference member during the 2018-19 season, defeating James Madison, 74-69, in the semifinal round of the WNIT.
