NORTHBOROUGH, MASS. – Graduate student Annabel Child was honored as the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association Division I Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the IWLCA announced on Thursday. The honor is bestowed on a senior or graduate student in their final year of playing who must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and be a significant member of their lacrosse team.
Child, a midfielder on the 2026 National Championship-winning squad, maintained a perfect 4.000 GPA while earning a graduate degree in Management. She earned the Dean’s Award for Academic Achievement, Dean’s List recognition, and membership in the prestigious Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society, an honor reserved for the top 10% of graduates from NU. On the field, Child started all 22 games for the ’Cats en route to Big Ten regular-season and tournament championships before ending the season with a national championship. Her play earned her All-Big Ten Second Team, Big Ten All-Tournament Team, and IWLCA Second-Team All-Region honors.
Before her time at Northwestern, she earned an undergraduate degree from Harvard University in Human Evolutionary Biology. During her time at Harvard, Child was named a John Harvard Scholar as one of the top 5% of upper-class students academically and graduated with cum laude and High Honors distinction.
