Northwestern opens three-game homestand against Huskies
EVANSTON, Ill. (September 28, 2025) – Northwestern raises the curtain on a three-game homestand on Monday evening when it hosts Washington in a 7 p.m. CT matchup at Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium.
Monday's game will air nationally on Big Ten Network, with Kylen Mills (play-by-play) and former Wildcat Spencer Howard (analyst) on the call.
The Wildcats' 2-1 win over Rutgers back on September 19 marked Northwestern's third straight home victory against a Big Ten Conference foe. Head coach Russell Payne's crew is unbeaten (3-0-1) in their last four home league matchups, a run of form that dates back to a scoreless draw with Wisconsin on October 15, 2024.
LAST TIME OUT
Northwestern is looking to respond following a 4-1 setback on the road against No. 23 Maryland this past Friday at Ludwig Field in College Park, Md. Peter Riesz netted his third goal of the season in the defeat, finding the back of the net in the 37th minute of play off assists from Omar Jallow and Italo Addimandi.
The 'Cats became just the second team this season to outshoot Maryland, finishing with a 16-15 advantage in the category.
SCOUTING WASHINGTON
Washington (5-3-2, 2-1 B1G) rolls into Evanston in the midst of a stretch that has seen it win four of its last five games.
Behind second-half strikes from Richie Aman and Zach Ramsey, Washington climbed back above the .500 mark in Big Ten play on Friday night, dealing Wisconsin a 2-0 defeat at the McClimon Soccer Complex. Ramsey's 88th-minute strike against the Badgers was his fifth goal of 2025, a total that leads the way for head coach Jamie Clark's team. The sophomore midfielder's 13 overall points (5 goals, 3 assists) rank third in the Big Ten.
Charlie Kosakoff and Aman have provided additional firepower in the final third. Kosakoff has four goals to his name, a tally bolstered by a brace as part of a 2-1 win over Michigan State on September 12. Aman, who has three goals to his ledger, has established himself as one of the league's top distributors, dishing out six assists to share the Big Ten and national lead in the category with Northwestern's Alejandro Martinez Santamaria.
Jadon Bowton has backstopped Washington in all three of the Huskies' Big Ten games. A two-time Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week honoree last season, Bowton, who sports a 0.67 goals against average against league opposition, notched his first clean sheet of 2025 in Washington's aforementioned blanking of Wisconsin.
SERIES STUFF

Led by goals from Peter Kingston and Nick O'Brien, the Huskies prevailed in last season's clash between the two teams, dealing the 'Cats a 2-0 setback at the Husky Soccer Stadium in Seattle, Wash. Rafael Ponce de León finished with five saves in goal for Northwestern in the matchup.
