‘Cats Three-Peat at Silverado Showdown, Nguyen Earns Second Career Victory

NAPA, Calif. – On Wednesday, the Wildcats won their third consecutive team title at the Silverado Showdown in Napa, Calif., led by senior Lauryn Nguyen (-9, 70-68-69=207) who convincingly captured her second career collegiate victory.
No. 10 Northwestern returned to the par-72 6,207-yard Silverado Resort South Course confident after winning team titles in both 2023 and 2024.
NU topped a strong 17-team field that included No. 1 Stanford, co-host No. 3 Oregon, the aforementioned Trojans and No. 16 Arizona.
Nguyen finished round one tied for second on the player leaderboard, pulled ahead on the second day and never looked back in today's third round, carding 68-69 on Tuesday and Wednesday. She finished the event shooting 50 of 54 holes at or below par and making 13 birdies. This championship is Nguyen's second collegiate victory (2023 Windy City Collegiate Classic).
Two additional 'Cats finished in the Top 25: Ashley Yun tied for 11th (E; 71-73-72=216) and Hsin Tai Lin tied for 17th (+1; 73-74-70=217).

The 'Cats ended day one tied for the team lead at one-under, making three birdies on 18 to finish strong. NU ended the second round two shots off the lead and in contention heading into today's final round. Once again, the 'Cats played their best golf on the final day of the event, shooting a team tally of 283 to finish with a 54-hole total of 861 (-3; 287-291-283), securing the title by one stroke over No. 7 USC (-2; 290-286-286=862).
