EVANSTON, Ill. – After securing his third collegiate victory, Northwestern junior Daniel Svärd (Jarfalla, Sweden/Celsiusskolan Uppsala) has been named the Big Ten Conference Men's Golfer of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Thursday.  This marks the first weekly conference honor of Svärd's career.

Svärd was crowned co-champion of The Goodwin in Stanford, California, as the Northwestern Men's Golf team returned to action after a two-week break. Svärd tied for first on the leaderboard at 5-under (67-70-68=205) with four other golfers. It was the two-time reigning Big Ten champion's best finish this season.

Svärd fueled the 'Cats throughout the event, making 10 birdies and an eagle.

The Wildcats finished third in a 30-team field in the penultimate event of the regular season. NU shot a 54-hole team score of 839 (282-276-281) to finish at one-under.
