WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - No. 50 Northwestern Women's Tennis (11-12, 4-7 B1G) is set to close its regular season on the road this weekend against No. 60 Purdue and Indiana. The 'Cats will face the Boilermakers on Saturday then the Hoosiers on Sunday, with both first serves scheduled for 11 a.m. CT.
Despite a 4-1 loss to rival Illinois this past Saturday, Sydney Pratt shined on Senior Day, picking up her team-leading 15th singles victory.
To open the final weekend of Big Ten play, the 'Cats will face a Purdue team that recently snapped a three-match losing streak with a 4-2 victory over Minnesota this past Sunday. The Boilermakers (11-7, 5-6 B1G) have struggled against ranked opponents this season, and are still searching for their first win over an ITA top-75 opponent during the 2025 dual season.
Northwestern holds a strong advantage in the all-time series, having won 50 out of 53 matches all-time. Purdue's last win against the 'Cats came on April 28, 2012. The 'Cats have picked up nine straight wins over the Boilermakers since then, with the last ending in a 4-1 score a year ago.
Next up for Northwestern, Indiana (8-13, 2-9) has lost five of its last six matches, with the sole victory coming against No. 58 Michigan State on April 6. The Hoosiers' only other Big Ten dual win came on March 16 against Rutgers. Northwestern is 42-21 all-time against Indiana, and is seeking its ninth straight victory after sweeping Indiana at home last season.
Following the conclusion of the regular season, the top 12 teams in the Big Ten qualify for the conference tournament. Northwestern enters this weekend tied with Penn State for the final spot with the tiebreaker secured, meaning wins against both Purdue and Indiana would punch the 'Cats' ticket to the postseason. The Big Ten Tournament, which is set to commence on April 23, will take place in Ojai, California.
