Liolios' 10th-Inning Homer Pushes 'Cats past Flames

CHICAGO – Behind 5.0 no-hit innings from RHP Amar Tsengeg and a 10th-inning go-ahead home run from Trent Liolios, Northwestern defeated UIC 2-1 at Curtis Granderson Stadium on Tuesday evening.
LHP Crawford Wade got the start for the 'Cats, working 2.0 scoreless, fanning a pair of Flames, walking one and allowing a pair of hits. RHP Amar Tsengeg worked a career-high 5.0 innings, matching his career-high with four punchouts, allowing no hits and one walk.
UIC (6-21, 2-4 Missouri Valley) tied the game in the bottom of the eighth on an RBI groundout by INF DJ Butler, scoring INF AJ Taylor to knot the game at one apiece.
In the top of the 10th inning, INF Trent Liolios slugged his 13th home run of the year down the right-field line, putting the 'Cats in front. Liolios' 13 home runs rank tied for most in the Big Ten and tied for third-most nationally. Liolios' 13 home runs are tied for fourth-most in Northwestern history and are the most by a Wildcat since INF Anthony Calarco's 14 in 2021.
