FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – The Northwestern women's swimming and diving team wrapped up their season this weekend in Federal Way, Wash. as seven members of the team competed at the NCAA Championships. Saving their best for the last event, the team broke a school record in the 400 free relay to end the four-day competition on a high.

Six Wildcat swimmers and one diver punched their tickets to the NCAA Championships: Nikki Venema, Lindsay Ervin, Audrey Yu, Sydney Smith, Amy Pan, Zoe Nordmann and Isabella Chen.

To break the record, the relay team of Venema, Ervin, Smith and Yu clocked a 3:13.31 in the 400 free relay to finish in 18th place. Their time bested the previous record of 3:14.35 set in 2021.

"As a program, we are building something really special in Evanston," said director of swimming and diving Rachel Stratton-Mills. "We have a lot of momentum heading into next season with a strong group of younger swimmers and divers. We were proud to send seven Wildcats to NCAAs. Nikki Venema and Lindsay Ervin led this group, and it was fitting to see them be a part of a relay that broke a school record to end the competition."

In the 800 free relay, Venema, Smith, Nordmann and Ervin clocked 7:04.55 to finish in 21st place.

In Saturday's 100 free, Venema earned a time of 48.21 & Ervin recorded a personal best of 48.60, making her final individual swim of the season one to remember. Venema placed 28th and Ervin 46th.

Venema then put up a 1:45.25 in the 200 free, finishing in 30th place.

The 50 free saw both Ervin (22.37, T58th) and Venema (22.46, T62nd) stand toe-to-toe with the best swimmers in the country.

In the platform diving competition, Isabella Chen scored 218.20 to finish in 42nd place.

For the women's program, this marks the end of the 2024-2025 season which saw the swim team finish the regular season 6-3 -- including an unblemished 5-0 at home -- and ninth at the Big Ten Championships.

The 2025 NCAA Division I men's swimming and diving championships will be held at the same location from March 26-29. ESPN+ will provide live digital coverage for preliminary and finals sessions Wednesday through Saturday. Tape-delayed coverage of the men's championships will be on ESPNU at 6:00 pm CT on March 31.
