While Canisius managed a few bright moments, including goals from Maddie Fitzgerald and Ashlyn Dhandwar on free position shots, they were unable to stop the offensive barrage from Northwestern. The Golden Griffins' defense struggled to contain the Wildcats, who constantly pushed the ball and capitalized on their opportunities.
Defensively, NU was stellar as well, with Cara Nugent recording several key saves. Additionally, turnovers were forced all over the field, with NU's defensive unit shutting down Canisius' clears and turnover attempts.
In the second half, Northwestern continued its dominance, with players like Jordan Miles and Hannah Rudolph adding goals to the tally. The Wildcats' balanced attack was too much for Canisius, as they scored 9 more goals after halftime, finishing with a resounding 23-3 win.
