Yun and Nguyen Finish Top 20, ‘Cats Land Eighth at Moon Golf Invitational

MELBOURNE, Fla. – Ashley Yun (+2) and Lauryn Nguyen (+3) both finished in the Top 20 and the Wildcats landed in 8th place, as Northwestern Women's Golf continued their spring season at the Moon Golf Invitational in Melbourne, Fla. The tournament featured eleven teams ranked in the Top 25 of the most recent Clippd Poll.
The 'Cats, ranked ninth in the nation, used a team tally of 286 – their best score of the tournament – during Tuesday's final round at the par-72, 6,467-yard Suntree Country Club Classic Course to finish with a 54-hole total of 879 (296-297-286).
No. 7 Florida State (286-287-289=862) secured the team title, while South Carolina's Eila Galitsky (72-70-69) carded a 5-under-par 211 to win the individual medalist honors in a playoff over Florida State's Lottie Woad. Wake Forest and South Carolina rounded out the top three.
Yun (T-17th, 71-76-71=218) had a strong final round in Florida, carding five birdies on Tuesday. It was the third consecutive event that the West Covina, Calif. native led the Wildcats in scoring (Purdue Puerto Rico Classic and St Andrews Links Collegiate). It was Yun's fifth and Nguyen's (T-19th, 74-73-72=219) fourth Top 25 finish this season. Elise Lee finished tied for 27th with a five-over-par 221 (74-74-73).
