Northwestern sits just one game behind Badgers in conference standings
EVANSTON, Ill. (February 22, 2025) – With the regular season entering its home stretch, Northwestern (9-16, 2-12 B1G) closes out the road portion of its 2024-25 schedule on Sunday afternoon when it clashes with Wisconsin in a matchup packed full with implications for the upcoming Big Ten Conference Tournament. Tip-off between the Wildcats and Badgers is set for 2 p.m. inside the Kohl Center in Madison, Wis.
LAST TIME OUT
Northwestern trimmed a 21-point third-quarter deficit down to four late in the fourth quarter, but ultimately came up short in an 85-79 setback to No. 21 Maryland on Thursday inside Welsh-Ryan Arena.
Taylor Williams surpassed 1,000 career rebounds, as she finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds to secure her 10th double-double of the season. Caroline Lau closed the night with a double-double of her own, ripping down 11 rebounds and dishing 10 assists, both of which were game-high totals.
SCOUTING WISCONSIN
Wisconsin (12-14, 3-12 B1G), which has been idle since a 75-68 win over Penn State last Sunday in University Park, Pa., holds a one-game edge over Northwestern in the conference standings entering the regular season's final days. The Badgers' victory last weekend snapped a four-game slide and was just the second true road win for head coach Marisa Moseley's team this season.
In contrast to its road struggles, Wisconsin has been a more difficult out on its home floor, going 8-5 (.615) inside the Kohl Center.
Serah Williams hasn't skipped a beat after being named both the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and a First Team All-Big Ten pick last season. Williams ranks near the top of the league leaderboards in multiple categories, including points per game (3rd; 19.2), rebounds per game (2nd; 10.4), and blocks per game (2nd; 2.3). Ronnie Porter trails only Northwestern's Caroline Lau on the Big Ten's assist chart, averaging 5.2 helpers, while Tess Myers is a threat from outside, knocking down just over two three-point field goals per game.

Northwestern's run of success under McKeown has seen the 'Cats open up a 48-33 (.593) lead in the series between the two teams.
The Wildcats swept two matchups last season, picking up a 74-69 win at the Kohl Center (1/10/24) ahead of a 69-43 rout of the Badgers in the return matchup at Welsh-Ryan Arena (2/4/24).
