EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern football senior RB Cam Porter and senior DL Carmine Bastone will both return to Northwestern for the 2025 season. Both are returning captains from last season, with Porter being a two-time captain in 2023 and 2024.
Porter has totaled 2,173 yards from scrimmage in his career and 18 touchdowns, with a career-high six rushing scores last season. The Cincinnati, Ohio, native recorded five rushing touchdowns over a four-game stretch last season, which included two scores and a season-high 94 rushing yards against Duke. Porter was elected by his teammates to wear the No. 1 jersey this past season. Considered the highest honor in the program, the No. 1 jersey recognizes the student-athlete who best embodies the values and character of the Northwestern football family.
Over the last two seasons Bastone combined for 6.0 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and two forced fumbles playing in the interior of Northwestern's defensive line. The former walk-on from St. Charles, Ill., had a career-year in 2023 with 26 tackles, which included three stops and a sack in the Las Vegas Bowl win against Utah.
The Wildcats open the 2025 season on the road at Tulane on Saturday, Aug. 30, with the home opener set for Saturday, Sept. 6 against Western Illinois.
