Wildcats Travel to Minneapolis for Tri-Dual Meet vs. Minnesota & Purdue

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern's Swimming and Diving team wrap up the regular season on Friday and Saturday against Minnesota and Purdue in a tri-dual meet in Minneapolis. The event, being held at Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center, will start at 5:00 p.m. CT on Friday, Jan. 31, with Saturday's portion beginning at 11:00 a.m. CT. The meet will be streamed live on B1G+ and live results will be available on the MeetMobile app and DiveMeets.com. Follow the team @nuswimdive on Instagram and X.
In the January edition of the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Division I Top 25 Dual Meet Poll, the Northwestern men's team joined the list at no. 24.
The Gophers are coming off a close loss to the Arizona Wildcats in Tucson. The Gopher women fell 156-144 and the men were defeated 162-147. Their women's swimming team is ranked no. 24 in the country.
Purdue recently lost both sides of their final co-ed dual meet of the home season vs. Indiana. The Boilermaker women lost to no. 6 Indiana 189-111 and the men were defeated by no. 2 Indiana 236-64.
The 'Cats have had an impressive start to their season with the men's team 6-0 and the women's team 4-2. NU most recently faced the Wisconsin Badgers in Madison. The men's swimming team won eight of their races and earned a 163.5-136.5 victory. The women's team were defeated 205.5-93.5 (recap).
Northwestern sophomore Diego Nosack was named the Big Ten Swimmer of the Week following his performance at Wisconsin. The Beaverton, Ore. native recorded two first-place finishes in two very different events: The 200 fly (1:43.75) and the 500 freestyle (4:22.62). Both times are in-season bests for Nosack. In the 200 fly, Nosack won an exciting race, out-touching his Badger opponent by 0.05 seconds.
Last year, at the same event, the women's team finished with a win and two losses, topping Iowa 194-172 while falling to Minnesota (249-119) and Purdue (212-156). Lindsay Ervin captured two events, notching a win in the 50 Free with a time of 22.70 and taking the 100 Free with a NCAA 'B' qualifying time of 49.31. The Wildcat men fell to Minnesota (150-221) and Purdue (175-197), despite a number of strong individual performances. Tyler Lu claimed a win in the 100 Breast with a time of 53.66, and finished first in the 200 IM with a time of 1:46.78. David Gerchik won the 200 Back with an NCAA 'B' qualifying time of 1:43.89.
On the diving side at Wisconsin, the 'Cats dominated the 1 meter event with Adam Cohen (327.30), Ryan Augustine (312.30) and Kyle Ly (292.50) finishing 1-2-3. Caroline Li (261.23) won the 1 meter with teammate Shauntel Lim (248.40) finishing second. Cohen also finished second on the platform (361.50) with Ly (330.68) finishing third.
NEXT UP: The team heads into the postseason with the women's Big Ten Championships taking place February 19-22 in Columbus, OH and the men's competition being held February 26-March 1 in Minneapolis, MN.
