'Cats Trek West To Take On Iowa Tuesday On BTN

Northwestern has won two of its last three visits to Carver-Hawkeye Arena
EVANSTON, Ill. (January 27, 2025) – Northwestern (7-11, 0-7 B1G) hits the road for the first time in over three weeks on Tuesday evening when it heads west for a 7 p.m. CT tip-off against Iowa. Tuesday's tilt will be televised on Big Ten Network from inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena with Kylen Mills (play-by-play) and Shimmy Miller (analyst) on the call.
LAST TIME OUT
Illinois shot nearly 50 percent as it built an early double-digit lead on the way to an 85-60 victory over Northwestern last Thursday at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
For the fourth time this season, Kyla Jones paced the 'Cats on the offensive end of the floor, finishing with 14 points. Jones, who also came away with three steals, is averaging a team-high 13.6 points over Northwestern's last five games. Taylor Williams flirted with her eighth double-double of 2024-25, putting up 11 points and nine rebounds, while Grace Sullivan matched Williams on the offensive end, adding 11 points as she reached double figures in scoring for the third time in four games.
Kat Righeimer provided a lift off the bench for the 'Cats, finishing her night with seven points, four rebounds, two assists, and a steal across a season-high 13 minutes of game action.
SCOUTING IOWA
Iowa (13-7, 3-6 B1G) snapped a five-game skid in emphatic fashion last Wednesday, as it shot a program-record 71 percent from the field en route to an 85-61 win over Washington inside Alaska Airlines Arena in Seattle, Wash.
Head coach Jan Jensen is in her 25th year on the Hawkeye staff, having ascended to the head chair this past offseason following the retirement of long-time Iowa head coach Lisa Bluder. During her time on the Iowa bench, Jansen has helped lead the Hawkeyes to 18 NCAA Tournament berths, including back-to-back appearances in the National Championship game.
Villanova transfer Lucy Olsen has wasted no time in making an impact at Iowa, averaging a team-best 15.8 points across 18 appearances, all of which have come in a starting role. Olsen has five games of 20 points or more to her name. 2023-24 Second Team All-Big Ten pick Hannah Stuelke (12.9 ppg), who has missed the last two games due to injury, pulls down a team-high 8.2 rebounds per game, while Addison O'Grady serves as another low-post scoring threat, contributing 12.6 points per game while operating at a blistering 66.7 precent clip from the floor.
SERIES STUFF
Tuesday's tilt marks the 80th installment of the rivalry between Northwestern and Iowa. The Hawkeyes have rattled off four straight wins over the 'Cats to extend their lead in the all-time series to 61-18 (.772). Iowa extended its win streak in the series last season, as Caitlin Clark poured in a game-high 35 points to lead the Hawkeyes to a 110-74 win before a program-record 7,039 fans inside Welsh-Ryan Arena on January 31, 2024. Melannie Daley led the 'Cats in the defeat, finishing with 19 points.
Northwestern has come out on top in two of its last three visits to Carver-Hawkeye Arena, securing victories during the 2020-21 (87-80) and 2021-22 (77-69) seasons.
