Coming off a stellar 2024 campaign, the junior Robinson is one of six Big Ten players to earn the preseason honor.
EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern's Kansas Robinson has been named a Second-Team Preseason All-American by D1Softball, the outlet announced on Wednesday.
Robinson is one of six Big Ten players to earn the preseason honor. The junior infielder enters the 2025 season as one of the most dynamic offensive players in the conference, having been named a Second Team All-American by Softball America, while also earning First Team All-Big Ten and NFCA First Team All-Great Lakes Region selections in 2024.
During her sophomore season, Robinson finished the year with an impressive 1.191 OPS, ranking fourth in the conference. Her .486 on-base percentage was the third-highest in the Big Ten. She opened the season by reaching base in 34 consecutive games, tying for the fifth-longest streak in Big Ten history, and led the Wildcats with 11 home runs and 36 RBI on the year.
Robinson's rookie campaign in 2023 established her as one of the top newcomers in the country. She was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team and posted the highest OPS (.1.001) by a Northwestern first-year since Rachel Lewis in 2018. Her nine home runs tied for second on the team, and her impact was felt in key moments, including multiple game-winning home runs and multi-hit performances during Northwestern's Big Ten and NCAA Regional titles.
Northwestern Softball claimed its third-straight Big Ten conference championship in 2024 while earning its sixth-straight NCAA Tournament berth. The Wildcats boasted one of the nation's most potent offenses, ranking 25th in the country with a .397 on-base percentage. Robinson was a driving force behind that production, leading the team in batting average (.383), slugging percentage (.705), on-base percentage (.486), home runs (11), and RBI (36).
Looking ahead to 2025, Northwestern will once again test itself with one of the nation's toughest schedules beginning on February 7. The Wildcats, who were ranked No. 19 in D1Softball's preseason poll, will face 11 teams that qualified for the 2024 NCAA Tournament, including five that advanced to the NCAA Super Regionals and two that competed in the Women's College World Series. Notably, nine of Northwestern's first 14 games are against 2024 NCAA Tournament qualifiers.
