Women's Tennis Hosts Butler to Begin Dual Season

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern women's tennis opens up its 2025 dual season at home on Saturday, hosting the Butler Bulldogs at 4 p.m. CT at Combe Tennis Center.
Before the dual season officially began, the 'Cats got a final tune-up last weekend by hosting three teams in Evanston for the Quad Invite. Led by a flawless singles showing for sophomore Autumn Rabjohns and a 5-1 overall weekend for senior Sydney Pratt, Northwestern finished 7-4 in doubles play and 15-9 in singles action across three days of individual matches.
Head coach Claire Pollard and company will look to build on a 2024 season that culminated in an NCAA Tournament appearance - the team's 24th over the last 25 years. The 'Cats finished third in a strong Big Ten conference last regular season and amassed a 19-8 overall record. This year's team features six returners from that squad and four newcomers. Among the second group is first year Mika Dagan Fruchtman, who came one win shy of NCAA Doubles Tournament qualification this fall alongside partner Britany Lau.
Saturday's match will be the first of dual season for both Northwestern and Butler. The programs met most recently last January - a match the 'Cats swept 7-0 in Evanston.
Following the opener, Northwestern will continue its season on the road next Saturday in Champaign, Ill. The 'Cats and the Illini are scheduled for a noon CT first serve on Saturday, January 25.
