Notre Dame Bests 'Cats in South Bend

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Northwestern volleyball team fell to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (6-1) in straight sets (21-25, 19-25, 16-25) Saturday on the road at the Compton Family Ice Arena.
The non-conference loss moved Northwestern to 0-6 on the season.
Rylen Reid finished with 12 kills on the day to lead the Wildcats offense while finishing with a hitting percentage of .250. Northwestern got seven digs from Gigi Navarrete to lead them defensively.
How It Happened
SET 1 | The Wildcats dropped set one 25-21 despite a solid performance on the attacking end. Northwestern registered a .333 attack percentage with 14 kills in the set loss.
SET 2 | A 25-19 set-two loss put Northwestern behind 2-0 in the match. The Wildcats fell behind on the first point and never clawed back into the lead before dropping the set.
SET 3 | Northwestern could not win set three and was swept by Notre Dame. The Wildcats lost the first point and fought from behind the rest of the way before falling in the set 25-16.

» Buse Hazan had a team-high two aces in the loss.
» Rylen Reid had a team- and career-high 12 kills for Northwestern. It was the first game of her career to see the junior reach double-digit kills.
» Northwestern got a team-high seven digs from Gigi Navarrete.
» Northwestern attackers were helped by a match-high 25 assists from Alexa Rousseau.
