Fitzpatrick and Phillips Earn Big Ten Player of the Week Honors

EVANSTON, Ill. – Reiley Fitzpatrick was named Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week and Emma Phillips was named Big Ten Defender of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Fitzpatrick earns the award after recording clean sheets in wins over Illinois State and No. 21 Virginia Tech. Against the Redbirds, the Ashburn, Va. native recorded a pair of saves in a 4-0 rout. On Sunday against No. 21 Virginia Tech, the goalkeeper tallied three saves. Fitzpatrick has started every game this season, tallying three solo shutouts and four combined over NU's last five games.
Phillips secures Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors after a standout week in defense. The Munster, Indiana native has played every minute for the Wildcats this season, helping the 'Cats to four clean sheets. Against No. 21 Virginia Tech, Phillips assisted on Caterina Regazzoni's game-winning goal, the lone goal of the contest.
Northwestern opens Big Ten play against Purdue on Thursday, September 12 at 6 p.m. CT on B1G+ at Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium.
The award is Fitzpatrick's first and the first by a Wildcat goalkeeper since Mia Raben claimed the award on September 13, 2022. Phillips secured her second career Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week award, previously winning the award on September 6, 2022.
