Aulicino, Phillips, Regazzoni Named Big Ten Players to Watch

EVANSTON, Ill. – Graduate student midfielder Josie Aulicino, junior midfielder Caterina Regazzoni, and senior defender Emma Phillips were all named to the Big Ten Players to Watch List, the conference announced on Tuesday afternoon. The honor marks the third consecutive season Aulicino has been named to the list and second consecutive season for Regazzoni.

Aulicino enters her fifth season in Evanston ranking third in program history in career goals (22), second in career assists (28), and third in career points (72). The midfielder earned All-Big Ten honors in 2021 and 2022 and All-North Region honors in 2022.

A two-time All-Big Ten honoree, Phillips has started 52 games over three seasons in Evanston. Phillips led all Wildcats with 1,611 minutes played in 2022. The Munster, Ind. native notched a career-high seven goals in 2022.

A native of Zurich, Switzerland, Regazzoni was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2022. Regazzoni was named to the Switzerland National Team for UEFA Women's EURO Qualifiers this past July. In two seasons in Evanston, Regazzoni has made 40 starts, tallying six goals and four assists.

Northwestern was picked to finish 12th in the new-look 18-team Big Ten's Preseason Coaches Poll. The Wildcats open the 2024 campaign on Thursday, August 15 at Boston University.
