EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern Lacrosse is thrilled to announce that five Wildcats have been named to the final roster of 22 players representing the United States in the 2024 World Lacrosse Women's U20 Championship. This year's event will be held in Hong Kong, China from August 15-24.
Head coach Kelly Amonte Hiller, who has a history of success with the U.S. National Team, expressed her excitement about the selections, stating, "I'm incredibly proud of the talent and dedication our players have shown. This is a special group, and I'm looking forward to seeing them compete on the world stage."
The 22-player roster includes standout Wildcats such as IWLCA All-Americans Madison Taylor, Noel Cumberland, Francesca Argentieri, Madison Smith and incoming first-year Hannah Rudolph. These players have been instrumental in Northwestern's recent successes and will now bring their skills to the international arena.
The team's journey to the championship began with an intensive training camp at USA Lacrosse headquarters from June 19-21. Their next training camp will be held at home at Northwestern University from July 18-20, providing a home-field advantage as the team prepares for the world championship. The final preparations will include a brief camp in Northern California before heading to Hong Kong.
The U20 championship, previously a U19 event, saw its age group raised after the 2019 championship in Peterborough, Ontario. Coach Amonte Hiller led the U.S. to a gold medal in that tournament, continuing a legacy of success that includes titles in 1999, 2003, 2007, 2011, and 2019.
