Filler, Rudd to Compete in Athletes Unlimited AUX Season

WICHITA, Kan. – Athletes Unlimited Pro Softball is back for another Summer, beginning with the 2024 Athletes Unlimited Pro Softball AUX competition which will feature a pair of Northwestern Softball alums, Andrea Filler and Jordyn Rudd-Lee.
This Summer, Athletes Unlimited Pro Softball features two seasons: its AUX event and its Championship season. The 2024 AUX Softball season will be played in Wichita, Kansas from June 10 to June 25, bringing together 42 athletes to compete for two weeks in 18 games.
The Championship season will take place from July 26 through August 25, featuring 60 pro softball athletes competing for five weeks at Parkway Bank Sports Complex in Rosemont, Illinois.
This year's 2024 AUX event marks the fifth season of Athletes Unlimited Competition for Filler, who has played in over 50 games for Athletes Unlimited and earned a 12th place in the 2023 AUX season and a seventh place finish in the 2022 AUX season. In two seasons of AUX competition, Filler has posted a .313 batting average (21-for-67) in 22 games, hitting four home runs while driving in 17 RBI.
Prior to playing Athletes Unlimited, Filler played for the Italian National Team, notably competing for Team Italy at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. While playing in the Italian Pro League, Filler won the league's batting title in 2021, compiling a .517 batting average and eight home runs. Filler also played professionally in the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) league, playing for the Chicago Bandits during the 2016 season.
Filler played three seasons for Northwestern Softball from 2014-16, tallying a .351 batting average to go along with 34 home runs and 159 RBI in 158 career games for the Wildcats en route to three NFCA All-Region team selections and two First Team All-Big Ten selections. Filler also serves as a member of Athletes Unlimited Pro Softball's Player Executive Committee, and recently wrapped up her seventh season on Kate Drohan's staff at Northwestern as the Wildcats' Director of Player Operations.
This marks Rudd's first season playing Athletes Unlimited, having been one of 14 players selected in last year's 2023 Athletes Unlimited Pro Softball College Draft. Last Summer, Rudd played for the USSSA Pride in the World Pro Fastpitch (WPF) league, appearing in 30 games during her rookie season while tallying 11 hits, five doubles, two home runs, five runs scored and 12 RBI.
Rudd played five seasons at Northwestern from 2019-23, during which she started 243 games (third in program history) and totaled a .332 career batting average to go along with 30 home runs and 201 runs batted in (second in program history). Rudd helped lead the 'Cats to four NCAA Tournament appearances during her career, including a berth in the 2022 Women's College World Series, as well as back-to-back Big Ten championships in 2022 and 2023.
A four-time All-Big Ten honoree, Rudd was named the first-ever recipient of the NFCA Rawlings Gold Glove Award by NFCA in 2022, in addition to being selected as the 2022 National Defensive Player of the Year by Softball America and recognized with the 2022 Johnny Bench Award winner as best female catcher in the nation.
Northwestern is one of 11 schools to feature multiple alums in this 2024 AUX season. Action kicks off on Monday with a doubleheader on ESPNews and ESPNU, respectively. Rudd will begin the first series on Team Blue, drafted by captain Jessi Warren. Filler will begin on Team Orange, drafted by captain Megan Wiggins.
