EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern Softball's Emma Raye was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Monday, taking home the conference honors for the first time in her career.

Raye homered in both of Northwestern's wins over Indiana this weekend to help the Wildcats secure their third-straight Big Ten championship.

In Friday's game, with the Wildcats trailing 3-0, Raye helped jumpstart a late-inning rally with a solo home run to lead off the bottom of the fourth inning.

On Sunday, Raye hit the eventual game-winning home run with a towering two-run shot off the facade of Welsh-Ryan Arena to give Northwestern a 4-2 lead in the third inning.

Raye also caught runners stealing in back-to-back games, bringing her total to 12 on the season (third-most in the Big Ten). As a team Northwestern surrendered the fewest stolen bases in the Big Ten this season.

Raye finished Big Ten play with a .924 OPS in 22 conference games, including a team-leading seven home runs and 16 RBI to go along with a .591 slugging percentage.

On the season, Raye ranks second on the team behind only Kansas Robinson with 10 home runs, the most by a Wildcat rookie since Maeve Nelson belted 11 in 2019 during her Second Team All-Big Ten campaign.

Northwestern was tabbed the No. 1 seed in the 2024 Big Ten Softball Tournament and received a first-round bye. The 'Cats will take on the winner of Purdue vs. Indiana in the Quarterfinals on Thursday at 11 a.m. CT on Big Ten Network in Iowa City, Iowa.
