EVANSTON, Ill. - Senior Presley Thieneman has been named to the 2024 All-Big Ten Second Team, earning the first All-Conference selection of his career, the conference announced Thursday morning.
Thieneman won ten of his singles matches this season, half at the #1 spot. Three of his wins were against teams in the top 25, the highest being a win against then-No. 8 Duke's Andrew Zhang. Thieneman also won against No. 109 Enzo Aguiard of Alabama and against No. 56 Robin Catry of then-No. 21 North Carolina State in the team's season opener.
The senior also brought home seven doubles wins with partner Greyson Casey. The pairing downed two ranked duos: No. 45 Filip Planinsek and Andrii Zimnokh of No. 21 Alabama and No. 68 Ronald Hohmann III and Sebastien Collard of No. 18 Michigan State.
Following an undefeated weekend at home versus No. 21 Alabama, Clemson, and IUPUI, Thieneman was named Big Ten Player of the Week on Feb. 14.
Also among postseason award winners was senior Gleb Blekher, who earned Northwestern's Sportsmanship Award.
Thieneman and the 'Cats will play in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament on Thursday, seeded at the No. 7 spot. They'll take on Wisconsin in Evanston at 2 p.m.
