'Cats Wrap Regular Season at No. 15 Ohio State and Penn State

COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 35 Northwestern women's tennis will close out the regular season this weekend with a road swing at No. 15 Ohio State and Penn State. With Big Ten Tournament seeding on the line, Northwestern will face the Buckeyes at 3:30 p.m. CT on Friday, then they'll take on the Nittany Lions on Sunday, with first serve scheduled for 11:00 a.m. CT.
The Wildcats (17-5, 8-1 B1G) are tied with Ohio State for second in the Big Ten heading into the season's final weekend. The 'Cats' sole loss came at Illinois, while Ohio State has fallen only to the ITA's No. 2 women's team, the Michigan Wolverines. After moving up to No. 35 in the ITA team rankings on Tuesday, Northwestern holds the fourth-best ranking among conference squads, behind Michigan, Ohio State and No. 29 Wisconsin.
Ohio State (15-6, 8-1 B1G) has won eight straight leading up to their Friday match-up with the 'Cats. The Buckeyes boast four ranked doubles pairings, headlined by No. 23 Luciana Perry and Sydni Ratliff. They're also well represented in the ITA's singles rankings, at No. 17, No. 51 and No. 119.
After battling the Buckeyes, Northwestern will move on to University Park to face the Nittany Lions (5-14, 4-5 B1G). Penn State dropped their last three on three straight sweeps; their last win came on March 31, a 5-2 defeat of the Maryland Terrapins.
Following the final weekend of regular season duals, the Wildcats will head to Ann Arbor next week to take part in the Big Ten Tournament. Northwestern has already secured at least a single bye in the tournament, and with two wins this weekend, could lock up a top-four seed and a double-bye. Tournament action will begin Wednesday and continue until the Championship Match on Sunday.
