
'Cats Suffer Second-Consecutive Overtime Setback at Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS – Despite shooting 47.8% from three-point range, Northwestern came up short in a 75-66 overtime loss at Minnesota on Saturday afternoon, its second consecutive overtime loss.
The Wildcats (15-7, 6-5 B1G) had three players score in double figures, led by Boo Buie, who had 20 points, seven assists and four steals. Ryan Langborg added 16 points, and Brooks Barnhizer chipped in posting a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Buie moved into a tie for second place in school history for games played, tying Sanjay Lumpkin's 137 games played. Buie logged a career-high 44 minutes in the setback.

Both teams traded runs in the first half, with Northwestern bursting for 7-0 and 8-0 runs before Minnesota (14-7, 5-5 B1G) ended the half going on a 7-0 run, equaling the score at 27-27. Northwestern shot 56% (5-for-9) from beyond the arc in the first half.
After intermission, Northwestern jumped out to a 40-31 lead off of a 7-0 run with 15:18 to go in regulation. Trailing 61-59, the Wildcats forced a turnover, and Buie drew a foul, making made a pair of free-throws to send the game into overtime. The 'Cats held an 11-0 edge in points off turnovers in the second half.
Minnesota took control in overtime and held on to win 75-66.
