'Cats Host Wolverines at Welsh-Ryan

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern women's basketball is home for the second-to-last time this season as they prepare to host the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday at Welsh-Ryan Arena. The contest - which is women's basketball's Together We Win game - is set to tip off at 2 p.m. on B1G+.

The 'Cats (8-18, 3-12 B1G) will play in Welsh-Ryan for the first time in a week-and-a-half after traveling for back-to-back road games last week. Northwestern has a chance to return to an even .500 at home with a victory over Michigan, which would bring them to 7-7 in Evanston this season.

Despite losses in both road games, the 'Cats got big contributions from grad transfer Maggie Pina, who has continued to take on a bigger role as the season has progressed. Pina started against both Minnesota and Nebraska - her fourth and fifth starts as a Wildcat - and reached double-digit scoring in both. She is averaging 10.3 points per game over her last four and has sunk three three-pointers in three of those four. She'll enter play on Saturday shooting 47.4 percent from deep.

Hailey Weaver was also back in double figures for the 'Cats on Tuesday in Lincoln, contributing 11. It was the junior's 11th double-digit scoring performance of the season. Her three-point shooting has also picked back up over the last month; Weaver has made five treys over the last four games.

Michigan is the only Big Ten team the 'Cats have not yet faced this season. The Wolverines have dropped three of their last four, bringing them to 7-8 in conference play and 16-11 overall on the year. They are set to return to action against Northwestern after nearly a full week off, with their last game coming last Sunday against Michigan State.

Following this weekend's matchup, the 'Cats will remain home for Senior Night on Tuesday, when they'll take on the Indiana Hoosiers. That game will begin at 6 p.m. and will be televised on Big Ten Network.
