
Northwestern Basketball Alum Pat Spencer Signs NBA Contract with Warriors

SAN FRANCISCO - Northwestern men's basketball alum Pat Spencer has signed a two-way contract with the Golden State Warriors, as announced by the organization on Thursday. Spencer played the 2019-20 season with the Wildcats as a graduate transfer averaging 10.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game, after having a stellar lacrosse career at Loyola (Md.).
Players under two-way contracts receive a single salary for their participation in both the NBA and G League, with eligibility limited to those with three or fewer years of NBA service.
Spencer, 27, has appeared in 18 games (two starts) with Golden State's G League affiliate the Santa Cruz Warriors this season, averaging 15.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.3 steals in 27.4 minutes per game. Overall, Spencer owns career averages of 11.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.1 steals and 21.5 minutes in 37 games (two starts) over three G League seasons with the Capital City Go-Go and Santa Cruz Warriors. Unselected in the 2020 NBA Draft, Spencer also played internationally with the Hamburg Towers in Germany. The Davidsonville, Md. native played the 2022-23 season for Santa Cruz after breaking into the league with the Capital City Go-Go in 2021-22.
Prior to beginning his basketball career at Northwestern, Spencer was a four-time All-American in lacrosse at Loyola (Md.), and holds the NCAA career record with 231 assists.
