LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Northwestern women's basketball team could not keep up in a 75-50 loss to the Nebraska Cornhuskers on the road Tuesday.

The Wildcats (8-18, 3-12) had two players score in double figures, led by Maggie Pina, who had 12 points. Hailey Weaver added 11 points from the bench and Paige Mott added eight points.

Northwestern as a team did a great job disrupting Nebraska shots in the contest, coming away with six blocks. Mott's two rejections led the way individually for the Wildcats.

How It Happened

Northwestern struggled out of the gate, falling behind 20-6 at the end of the first quarter.

The Wildcats fought back in the second period, narrowing the deficit to 35-23 by the time halftime rolled around.

However, Nebraska continued to increase its lead after halftime, building a 52-30 advantage before Northwestern went on a 5-0 run, punctuated by a three from Weaver, to trim its deficit to 52-35 with 2:21 to go in the third. Nebraska countered and stretched its lead to 56-38 heading into the final period.

Northwestern could not pull any closer in the fourth, losing by a final of 75-50.
